On Tuesday 10th June, I was walking through Brockley Cemetery with the one year old girl I nanny. We came across Quince Class who were making ‘Stickmen’. I was so delighted and impressed with how friendly and articulate the children were. They wanted to share their creations, and stories around them. Three children even offered to make a stickman for my girl. It was such a lovely encounter, and the children were so motivated by the activity. Thank you Quince Class!
Beecroft really is a fabulous school – even more exciting inside than it looks from the outside.. I came away feeling inspired and exhilarated, went to sleep thinking about it and woke up again this morning with it still in my mind. You’re doing a great job. What lucky – and talented – children!
Beecroft Garden is a wonderfully welcoming, energetic, and positive community!
I was fortunate to have had the incredible opportunity to shadow Arts Specialist Dilys Finlay this autumn. It is impossible to step into the building without being blown away by the students’ amazing artwork. Each of the beautiful pieces is truly a reflection of the commitment, creativity, and courage of everyone at the school. I felt so welcomed and supported as a volunteer at the school, and learned so much from the teachers, students and staff. It is a truly inspiring place!
I recently spent Sept and Oct in the UK and was fortunate enough to be given a guided tour of your new school. I was so impressed. Your buildings and grounds were superb and your Staff friendly and helpful.
I thought the students’ artwork was amazing. Thank you for letting me visit your school. From an Australian principal’s point of view, it was very interesting to see another country’s school.
Most of our school children have now commenced their summer holidays and won’t return until the end of January. At the moment we’re experiencing some quite warm weather. Today the temperature reached 36 degrees Celsius and on Thursday we’re supposed to have 44 degrees. It must be nice to have cold weather for Christmas.
Best wishes to Staff and students
Many thanks indeed for agreeing to take part in the Open University evaluation of Make Believe Arts’ delivery of Vivian Gusin Paley’s Helicopter Technique for Story Telling and Story Acting. As part of the evaluation, I visited Beecroft Garden’s Early Years classrooms during a period of transition as you all settled into the new buildings.
Having been immersed in your early years learning and teaching environment on five separate days, from April to October 2012, I would like to congratulate all the staff at Beecroft Garden – teachers, support staff, art advisor, admin, head and executive head – for the warm, welcoming and respectful atmosphere that permeates the school. It has been a joy to experience this highly professional environment, where the potential of all the children is so highly valued and nurtured.
